Coming together!
History has always been constituted as attainment of progressive reforms determined by the dominant groups. The frictions and alternative reformist activities are overshadowed by the dominant control of collective cognitions. Reweaving those lost threads is challenging task. The difficulties apprehended in this are not associated with the requirements of resources but with rigid attitudinal web of negative perceptions. Based on above presumptive framework we strive for Association of Social Workers, India (ASWI).
We believe that the contributions of various community members in collective welfare reforms have been subordinated by the overrepresentation of dominant groups. The same ideology rules the day to day social work profession. Our interpretations based on these observations from historical civilization in India may sound illogical. But we are proud to relate ourselves with that culture of friction. We believe in equity induced through collective humanist ethics. Human being is centre of our planning. With this vision when we revisit our self as professional fraternity we come across much negativity. To cite few of the most starking issues we see professional discrimination in the form of recognition and incentives, subordinate roles in policy formulation and institutional interventions, selective utilization of skills and competencies with fewer roles in positive outcome sharing.
Our reflective discussions on issues social work of fraternity have led to the collective intention of functioning in organized manners for multiple issues concerning the profession. ASWI wish to exist as professional social organization of social workers aimed at collective welfare. We welcome all to the association to participate, share and develop the human development in India
